Recoilless rifles were one of the anti-tank weapons in service during the
time of the
Cold
War. One such used by the
British Army was the Wombat.
Wire guided rockets like the MILAN
are more common now. The Wombat et al are recoilless because a large amount of
gas is fed back out of the rear. This means that there is more to using it than
just aiming and firing. It is important, indeed vital to keep out of the way of
the back blast.
This is a splendid illustration of how NOT to do it. When the Arab fires the
blast will bounce back and fry the lot of them. It might well destroy the wall
behind. The lesson here is that native infantry need European officers to make
them effective.
