Where to start with this book, the authors are Hamish Ross, who has written a
couple of previous books, a biography of Paddy Mayne and Freedom in the Air.
Fred Marafono however is ex SAS and a mercenary, as such there is almost a
couple of different styles through the book.
One would have expected a more through explanation of the war in Sierra Leone
as after reading this I don’t find myself any more informed. There is very
little explanation of the Blood Diamonds as mentioned in the title. And you’re
dropped into the civil war with very little back ground information.

The message is that Fred is a good bloke but not a great author.
