Industrial Revolution

Socialism is advocated loudly by various people in the media and universities. The fact that it has been tried and found wanting in Russia, the Soviet empire and Vietnam among others makes no difference. It is still being practiced in North Korea and people are dying by the thousand as a result. It all started after the Industrial Revolution in England. There were winners and losers. Decent men cared about the losers so they acted. But it went wrong. The sympathy turned to hate of the entrepreneurs. It began with good intentions then became Pathological Altruism. It was George Stephenson who brought us steam and the railway in 1829. Karl Marx brought us the Communist Manifesto, hate and mass murder in 1848. It tells us:-

In short, the Communists everywhere support every revolutionary movement against the existing social and political order of things.
The Communists disdain to conceal their views and aims. They openly declare that their ends can be attained only by the forcible overthrow of all existing social conditions. Let the ruling classes tremble at a Communistic revolution. The proletarians have nothing to lose but their chains. They have a world to win.

You can't say that Karl was beating about the bush but you can say that the BBC eagerly ignores the truth. The left is not interested. Here are some honest sources. Read For yourself. Think for yourself. Decide for yourself.
National Socialism Or International Socialism?

What real difference is there between Adolf's socialism and Lenin's? Apart from the slogans, the uniforms not a lot. One lot murdered far more than little Adolf. The one significant difference is that international socialism has travelled better than the nationalist version but then it is marketed as: The people with no land wanting a land with no people - apart from hundreds of thousands of Palestinians. Jews are the Puppet Masters making wars. Was Adolf wrong about them?

Canals
Canals were important in moving large loads faster than horses on dirt roads. See the History of the English Canal System on the point. The Wikipedia refers to it as a British system but there aren't many of them in the Highlands. Railways took over because they were faster. Being able to carry more than 30 tons helped too.

Cato Street Conspiracy ex Wiki
Was a result of the stresses caused by people moving into towns et cetera.

Cotton
Became big, then bigger because of the cotton gin, a machine that made it much easier to get the seeds out of cotton bolls. The cotton industry boomed, making prosperity for the deep South and making Slavery into a growth industry.
