Six Israelis make list of 50 richest people in Britain

Six Israelis are among the fifty richest people in the United Kingdom, according to a report released by the Sunday Times. Sammy and Eyal Ofer head the list of Israelis and are in 15th place overall with a total worth of 3.4 billion pounds. Lev Leviev, who only recently left Israel for London is ranked 21st with 2.5 billion pounds to his name.
Some lesser known Israeli tycoons also cracked the top 50, including Benny Steinmetz and brothers Eddie and Saul Zakai. Of the top 20 richest billionaires on the list, only 6 were born in the U.K. Many of the tycoons, including Jewish Chelsea football club owner Roman Abramovich and Leviev, made their fortunes in Russia, after the fall of the Soviet Union.

Steel magnate Lakshmi Mittal has topped the Sunday Times Rich List for the fourth year running with assets now valued at over £27,700 million.
The 57-year-old head of Arcelor Mittal's family fortune is estimated to have increased by more than £8,450m over the past year due to rising share prices.
In second place is Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich, with a £11,700m fortune, followed by the Duke of Westminster - the richest property developer in Britain, worth £7,000m.
Elsewhere Kirsty Bertarelli, a former Miss United Kingdom from Staffordshire, is the highest placed woman, appearing at number six on the list alongside her husband, the biotechnology tycoon Ernesto Bertarelli.
The Hinduja brothers Sri and Gopi, at number four, will celebrate the 100th anniversary of their father's £6,200m industry and finance empire in 2014.
Alisher Usmanov, a former prosecutor in Uzbekistan, who appears at number five, built his £5,726m fortune through steel and ore mines.
Hans Rausing and family, the shipping owner John Fredriksen, the retail millionaires Sir Philip and Lady Green, and David and Simon Reuben, who have been active in the British property market for a decade, round out the top 10.
